$10 Lunch Challenge – Queens vs. Tampa

In the midst of filming Queens of the Boroughs Series with my friend Joanna, we decided to do a $10 lunch challenge – Queens vs. Tampa. Feeling competitve we challenged another travel blogger in another city to see if and what she could get lunch for $10. With our own special guest in Queens we took off in search of lunch. Not only do you get to see who won, but also what you can get for lunch in these two cities!

Rules

There was only one rule for this $10 lunch challenge. The bill, including tax, had to come out to $10 or less per person.

Cities

Queens, New York verses Tampa, Florida

Participants

We had a special guest with us in Queens, NY, hip-hop artist Rain.

We challenged Lauren, a travel blogger from OutDoorsy Diva.

Outcome

Have you ever eaten at either place? Who do you believe won this challenge?

It was a close call especially with the size of portions and difference in state tax ????????

This was so cute!! I am impressed by what you both had for less than $10! AND at sit down restaurants. I have never had a fried oyster roll. I will need to add that to my list ????

It is hard to get a quality meal for ten bucks these days, but for the amount of my money you got decent meals

Good deal! It’s hard for sure to get a good meal for ten dollars, unless it’s Subway or something. I have become spoiled as prices are so good our way. I had sticker shock when we visited the U.S after 3 years :-).

It isn’t easy to get a really good meal with quality and a sit down restaraunt for that amount. Yea the US can do that to you lol.

This is so awesome! I live in Tampa and Lauren made a great choice. The lunch is perfect there because its affordable and delicious. But your lunch makes me want to make a special trip to that restaurant next time I’m in NYC.

I can’t wait to see future challenges because I love living the full life for #penniesinmypocket.

I’m also from Queens, so I love seeing people discover how fantastic it is. What areas are you planning on next? I hope you do a section on Kew Garden Hills, Jamaica, and Jackson Heights!

Crystal it’s Sawatt Dee. They are always really nice and the food is always good. It’s in Temple Terrace.

Oh gosh, it’s so touch to chose. You all nailed it! I don’t think I’ve had anything under $10. I’ve been to Tampa and it’s not particularly cheap to eat there.

I meant *tough to choose. When talking while commenting goes wrong but I see you understood what I meant.

I love food and I never thought to do a challenge like this. Clever idea. Maybe I can borrow this idea but tailor it for my niche. 🙂

Cool idea – wouldn’t like to try this in some areas of London, I was charged £7.50 (probably more than ten dollars) for a cup of coffee yesterday!!

I am glad I don’t drink coffee! That is a ridiculous price.

It is always nice to find a good meal for little money but I am also a person who thinks good quality might (!) cost a bit, so I sometimes “invest” a bit more in organic food 🙂

    Reply
    • Holly Dayz

That is actually not always true. Sometimes expensive food isn’t that great and the stuff that doesn’t cost as much is delicious.

I think all four of the meals look like winners. I am vegan and thankfully there are more places where I can go out and get a good meal for a good price
