Staying at Aloft Cleveland Downtown Hotel in Ohio

Cleveland is a city most only think of when talking sports. The Cleveland Browns or the Cavaliers. There are some nice hotels in Downtown Cleveland that are near many attractions for sports fans and non sports fans alike. When I got the chance to stay at the Aloft though I was pretty excited. I had yet to stay at one and it looked like a nice area.

Location

The Aloft Downtown Cleveland is about 15 – 20 minutes from the airport. It is great to have a car in Cleveland, but they have public transportation and places to park bikes. Ubers are also pretty cheap and it is what we used to get around. The Aloft also has a complimentary van that can get you around the area as well. If it isn’t too cold, your 2 feet can get you around pretty well from the hotel!

The hotel is located in an area called The Flats. It is considered a very industrial area, but is transforming. There are a bunch of restaurants, sports bars, and breweries across the street and some a minute or two on foot away. There is also a great boardwalk where you can walk or run along the river. Views of Lake Erie can also been seen.

Once we arrived we walked into the building and got on an elevator that took us up to the lobby of the hotel. We were instantly greeted and even though we arrived early our room was ready. I was very happy about this as it was cold outside and we had been up since 4am. I wanted to warm up and relax a bit before heading out.

As we headed to our room I realized that they hadn’t told us or written down the room number. We only knew what floor. As we walked off the elevator looking confused a staff member immediately walked up to us to help. She picked up a phone near the elevator and found out our room number within seconds. This was so very nice because we didn’t have to go back down to the lobby and instead straight to our room.

We called down to the front desk for a few items and they were quickly had it brought up to us by the same lady who helped us get our room number. She even ran to get more stuff and came right back. There have attentive and very nice people working there. Many of the restaurants in the area didn’t open till 11am so the lady at the front desk suggested a place. It wasn’t good at all, but because it was a low-key morning the General Manager offered to pick us up and drop us off which was so very nice him!

Rooms

The hotel has King and Double Queen rooms. We stayed in the spacious Double Queen which is 315 square feet. As soon as you walk in, the bathroom is right there. There is a long counter top and then a sink. A sliding door with a full length mirror leads to the stand up shower and toilet. I thought this was great because 2 people could be getting ready at the same time.

I located a coffee machine in the room that was accompanied by cups, coffee, and tea. There were also 2 bottles of complimentary water and some magazines that kept you in the know of what was going on in Cleveland. The closet is right across from the sink. There were no doors just a curtain. I wish the curtain was more colorful or vibrant.

It took a moment for me to realize there was a mini fridge located under the counter near the door. Great to put the waters in or whatever else. The location of the fridge wasn’t that great. I hit my leg on it a few times. There is a wall between the bathroom area and the rest of the room. Once you are walk around you have 2 nice Queen sized bed.

I thought it was cute how modern the hotel is, but they had an old school looking clock. Across from the beds were two long desks on either side. One chair was there because the AC/Heat was under the other desk. In between both desks was a nice 40 inch flat screen television. I loved the big windows as well, boasting views of Lake Erie, Cuyahoga River, and a ton of restaurants.

The beds were very comfortable. I enjoyed relaxing in it and glad I really had opportunities to do so. We loved the pillows so much we took note of the brand and purchased some when we got home. Now I sleep every night like I am at the Aloft. The room was very nice, clean, and once in a while the trains could be heard outside, but it didn’t bother us at all.

Hotel Amenities

Oh where to start, this hotel has some really nice amenities. Of course free wi-fi is located throughout the hotel including the rooms. It was fast and I had no issues with it. I really loved the look of the lobby. Once you walk in the front desk is round and in the center giving a different dynamic. To the left of that is ample and I do mean ample seating all throughout!

There was some outdoor seating, but the cold and rain wasn’t the time to be out there, but during nice weather I would have definitely taken advantage. There was also a pool table, dart boards, and a fire-place providing some nice ambience. There is also the WXYZ bar. I wish they provided little appetizers and not just drinks, but it looked really nice. At night the music is going and I felt it was a great place to meet up with people.

To the right of the front desk is the Re:fuel by Aloft which came in handy to grab breakfast before heading to the airport since restaurants in the area didn’t open till 11am. They have coffee, tea, ice cream, fruit, salads, and so much more you can purchase or charge to your room. At particular times they have someone there who can make certain things for you so we had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich made for us and grabbed some juice!

Staying at the Aloft Cleveland Downtown provides access to two gyms. One is a really big one at 17,000 square feet that a lady at the front desk told me she really liked it. I tried to go check it out, but it has just closed. It looked really nice when I peered though the glass despite the lights being out. They also have a 24 hour Re: charge gym, but I didn’t get to see it. Either way you can get your workout on!

There is also a complimentary shuttle van that takes you around the area. It starts up around 4pm and is a great alternative to Uber if you aren’t going too far from the hotel. I would highly suggest using it. It is a really nice van and is very spacious.

Overall this was a great hotel to stay in and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. I really loved the area and would explore it more in better weather. The staff is amazing and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay.  I look forward to going back and visiting. So if you are looking for a hotel Aloft Cleveland Downtown is a great one.
