App of the Month: HeyLets

There are so many websites and apps that give reviews that it can become overwhelming. What to do, where to go, and what to eat becomes a challenge if relying on reviews. Many times reviews can be extremely negative, sometimes just because. The app HeyLets has solved this problem.

HeyLets is a social city and travel guide that is powered by locals and built on positivity. People only post what they like so there is nothing negative to be found. The free app allows you to personalize what your news feed will look like based off what you enjoy. You share the places you go, things you do, and what you eat therefore recommending it to others. In return you can follow and see what others have recommended from their first hand experiences and try it out for yourself!

HeyLets

Once you download the app it will ask you to choose your interested. This will also help in finding others who have similar interests to you. Wouldn’t you want to follow someone who has some things in common with you? You can then begin to explore and see what fun places and activies others have recommended that may suit you. Or even better something you have always wanted to try and didn’t know the place to do it.

HeyLets

You can decide what you want to see by filtering through the many different categories such as movies, shopping, arts & entertainment, dining out, and many more. Of course you can also filter by location. This app allows you to not only explore new things in your own city, but in 91 other countries as well.

HeyLets

HeyLets also gives you an influencer status. The more experiences you share the more you can build up your credibility as an influencer. The app allows you to either become an influencer of your city or for specific categories. It is pretty cool and I enjoy looking at the many things people are recommending. When you do find what you are interested in you can add it to your wish list. I noticed a few times when I was near something that I saved to my wish list the app would alert me, which I thought was great.

Definitely give HeyLets a download and start recommending and wish listing new experiences you would like to try. Please feel free to follow me, you can find me at Holly Dayz. The app is currently available only for iOS devices at the moment.

UPDATE: 7/25/15 – HeyLets is now available for Androids!

Love this app and can’t wait for it to be on android soon so I can check it out. I love when travel apps come alive like this I don’t think I have ran across any that was interactive.

Very welcome. It is a cool resource. Found things even in my own city that I wasn’t really aware of.

It’s interesting that it focuses on the positive. I kind of like reading a negative comment or two (as long as it’s honest) to get a fair/clear picture of whatever it is I’m reviewing. I enjoy using Yelp, so I will have to check this one out, too!

Yea I understand what you are saying. The premise is more, people are only going to recommend what they like or enjoyed. You are going to follow people that have similar interests to what you like.

Yea it is, especially since people won’t recommend something they didn’t like.

There’s literally an app for anything you need out there. I admit I just stick with the basic ones, but this one seems cool.

Does this app feature a wide range of cities? I see that it is at least international…

Yes it does feature a wide range of cities. The more people who join from all around the more cities and countries will be featured.

This is new to me, thanks for sharing. I must admit I like to know both the good and the bad though when deciding where to stay and dine in a new city.

I like to know both the good and bad too, but I also like recommendations since typically that means it’s good. They also have activities.
