Eating at Pepe Anca in Cartagena, Colombia

We were reading a little book that was in the beautiful penthouse we were staying in that told of the many different places and things to do in Cartagena. Pepe Anca was on the list of great places to eat. Doing some research on the Internet, Pepe Anca came up as well. Seeing it more than once I put it on my list of places I would like to try while visiting. It just so happened to be meant for us to dine there.

On our first visit to Centro aka The Walled City, the taxi driver dropped us off and told us to walk down the street and we would find many places to explore, eat, and more. We never had an actual destination, we just figured we would find a place to eat once getting to this area. Ironically after walking a few steps down the street we see Pepe Anca. It was meant to be!

Upon walking in we were greeted immediately and seated. It was nice and cool inside which was great because it was so hot and humid outside. The entire place was empty except for the staff. It was pretty sweet to have the restaurant to ourselves.

Our waitress knew some English and was able to give us some recommendations while we looked at the menu. We started with drinks, a lemonade and fruit punch. Tostones and different salsas were brought to us while we waited for our entrees. It was really good and the drinks were refreshing.

Not too long after my grilled salmon and sweet plantains arrived. My mom’s steak and yucca came quickly as well. The food was delicious! I was able to try the steak and it was flavorful and tender. We really enjoyed the food as well as the beautiful restaurant. I even enjoyed the little peek I had into the kitchen from my seat.

We really had a great experience at Pepe Anca in Cartagena. I would highly recommend it if you are planning to visit! The prices were also great! A win all around.
