Tour of Gran Via Apartment in Madrid, Spain

Madrid, Spain has a plethora of places to stay from hotels to apartments. I decided since there were 3 of us an Airbnb would provide us with more space than a hotel room. It didn’t take much time before I narrowed down a couple of apartments. I literally booked it the night before leaving Marrakech, Morocco. We definitely weren’t disappointed in the apartment.

Location

Gran Via is known to be the “Spanish Broadway.” There are tons of plays up and down the street. The apartment was very close to the theater for The Lion King. There are also a ton of shopping that can be down up and down this long street. There are also tons of restaurants and nightlife around. There is definitely something always going on and as a street that never sleeps this works well for us New Yorkers.

It is also located across the street from the Madrid hop on hop off bus. This came in handy as we had a very limited time to explore Madrid. We were able to purchase tickets at a little stand that also sold trinkets, beverages, snacks, and more. We toured around a bit and then just got off the bus and walked right back to the apartment. So it worked out perfect.

Getting around is very easy. Taxis and buses go up and down this popular street. There are also a few Metro stations within walking distance. The price in a taxi from the airport to the apartment is a flat rate of 30 Euros.

Gran Via Apartment

First and foremost we felt very safe staying here. There is security on the premises till a certain hour. Afterwards the main doors to the building are locked and you need a key to get in and out. There are also 2 spacious elevators that move relativity quickly so there was never much of a long wait for one. The building seemed to be a mix of residences and businesses.

Upon walking in the house there is a nice sized bathroom to the left that has a deep tub. There is also a sign letting you know don’t linger in the shower too long if you want others to be able to have some hot water. Otherwise you have to wait 45 minutes before you can get hot water again. So we were mindful of that. There was also a washer and dryer next to the bathroom.

On the other side was the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The living room had a really comfortable couch. We hung out on that at night and relaxed. Listening to the television was funny because we could hear English being spoken over the dubbed Spanish. The kitchen area was compact, but seemed large. It was very modern and had coffee, tea, and a few other things. Everything a kitchen would need was there for use.

The apartment had 2 bedrooms. Both were spacious with the master obviously being even more spacious. The master even had a custom closet. The beds were comfortable. All the rooms had air conditioning and heating. Since we went during the winter we had the heat going. It worked really well and we were nice and comfy.

An Overview

Although we were staying on busy Gran Via, we never heard any noise below. We heard no outside noise. We did hear a little noise in the hallway, but nothing too disturbing. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly. The apartment was very spacious and we appreciated that greatly. The hosts were always available for any questions and responded promptly. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend that you do as well when in Madrid.
