Inside the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, GA

There are plenty of things to do in Atlanta, Georgia. One thing I really wanted to do was go to the World of Coca-Cola with my family and see what it was all about. It is a museum that showcases the history of Coca-Cola. From how big it looks, it seemed there was plenty to see and do. So we headed to Downtown Atlanta to see what it was all about.

The World of Coca-Cola is located in Pemberton Place. It is a 20 acre plaza, which all houses the Georgia Aquarium, that I got to check out, and the Center for Civil and Human Rights. So there is plenty to do in the area. Plus you are steps away from Centennial Olympic Park. As of 2017, Adult tickets are $16.00, Senior Citizens $14.00, Kids up to 12 years old, $12.00, and Toddlers (0-2) are free. There is also a parking structure that is $10 per car.

Upon entering we were immediately greeted and offered an option of a few different types of Coca-Colas in very cool bottles that we were able to keep. We had to wait a few minutes before we were let in. While we waited in The Loft I noticed several screens displaying different things, including hello in a multitude of languages. There were also some large Coca-Cola bottles on display with artwork from Argentina and South Africa. I would soon find out more of these bottles with artwork from around the world would be all over the building.

A really nice guy who had a ton of energy gave us a very cool intro to the World of Coca-Cola. Apparently we picked a great day and time to go as even he pointed out it wasn’t as crowded as it typically is. The room we were in had all types of Coca-Cola memorabilia from all around the world. Once we were given the intro we were led into a theater where we sat and watched the Moments of Happiness film which brought tears to some people. After the short film we were on our own for a self guided tour.

We took a picture with the Coca-Cola polar bear who we were told was made by the same people who made Jim Henson’s animatronics. After that we headed inside The Vault which was very interactive with games and more. We even saw a huge vault, which they told us houses the secret recipe of Coke. It was very cool walking through The Vault, there was plenty to do and see.

Walking around we saw some really cool nostalgic soda bar, Coca-Cola machines, Olympic torches, and a ton of memorabilia. There was also a mini theater that showed their commercials throughout the years. Bottle Works is also located inside the museum, where they give an inside look on how a bottle of Coke gets put together to ensure a perfect product for the consumer.

One of my favorite areas of the World of Coca-Cola was the Pop Culture area. They even had the couch from season 4 of American Idol, which was cool to me because I worked on season 12. They had a station where you could make your own Coca-Cola bottle art and email it to yourself, art made from bottle caps, cans, and more. It was a lot of fun exploring the room.

Another very cool area was the 4D theater. I have been to a few, this one had a few different elements I hadn’t experience and it was pretty cool. The film takes you around the world as two characters attempt to discover the secret formula. It was fun even though I think we sat too close because I began to feel cross-eyed for a few moments.

The very fun area is the test tasting! It was even better because it wasn’t too crowded so there was room to move and try out sodas made by Coca-Cola from around the world. They have over 100 to try. I didn’t try that many, but I did try a lot! In our opinion Europe had the worst tasting products. Africa had the best. My favorite was one from Madagascar! I went back for seconds or thirds.

After you are done touring around the museum exits into the store/gift shop. There is Coca-Cola everything of course and trying not to buy everything becomes hard. Of course we purchased a few things and got out of there before any more money was spent! Overall we had a good time. My sister said it was so much more inside the World of Coca-Cola that she didn’t expect. All ages enjoyed it and we all had a lot of fun.

Have you ever been to the World of Coca-Cola?
