Little Car, Big City in the Mitsubishi, Mirage

One would think that Mitsubishi’s little car would get swallowed up in a big city like New York. But similar to the plasma purple coat, the Mirage shined bright during my adventure for the week. My time with the car would take me around 2 of the 5 Boroughs, Queens and Manhattan.

When I first received the car I smirked at the bright purple. It was shining in the sun and I thought it was cute. As soon as I could, I took it for a test drive around Queens. Now don’t judge me, but I was excited to have a push to start car! My car doesn’t have that feature, nor have any cars I have rented. It was nice not having to fumble around with keys, I could just keep the transmitter in my pocket and start the car.

It was a warm day and I immediately turned on the A/C. The car cooled down quickly. The ride was smooth as I drove it. One area of the road was waiting to be re-paved and the car still offered a smooth ride. I drove to my friend’s house who was surprised to see the car, but she loved the color.

She too thought the car was cute and realized that it matched her nail polish. We both took turns sitting in the backseat which was very spacious for such a tiny car. For giggles I opened the trunk and she got in to see if she could fit in there. She almost did for the most part. It is a hatchback so the trunk isn’t the biggest.

The radio was basic. I found it odd that you didn’t have to put the volume too far down before you could no longer hear it. Around 17 the radio was at a whisper. Turning it up to 27 or 30 gave enough sound to be background music. I also wish there was a middle console to store items in like a GPS since the car didn’t have one.

That evening a few of us took a ride into Manhattan. It was such a smooth ride. In such a big city with a ton of cars it was nice to be able to zip around with ease. Parking was also the best! Finding parking in Manhattan can be a nightmare, but with the Mirage being a smaller car it was a dream.

The next day I met back up with my friend for the 5 Borough Instameet. Different teams in the 5 boroughs of NYC were meeting up to do an Instagram challenge to showcase whichever borough you were in. We met up with our team in Flushing and was able to park with ease. While everyone took the train to the next location we hopped in the cute purple plasma Mitsubishi and met our team there.

Once again we found a great spot for the car and walked over to meet everyone. We then continued to ride around Queens taking pictures for the challenge. I enjoyed driving the car. One thing I wanted to do was test the car over the cobblestone streets in Long Island City. It was still just as smooth. The color turned heads everywhere I drove.

All the driving around and it still had a lot of gas. I never had to fill the car up once in the week that I had it. The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage offers 37 mpg driving around the city. I think it would make a great starter car for a high school student or someone entering college as it is priced at $12,995. It would also be cool for a road trip. The car gets 44 mpg on the highway so you wouldn’t have to stop as often.

I missed the car once it was gone. It was a lot of fun to drive. I had fun exploring my hometown with it for the challenge. I also enjoyed being able to park in so many spots that I wouldn’t have been able to fit in with a bigger car. I got a kick out of turning heads in the purple.

Would you ride around in the 2015 Purple Plasma Mitsubishi Mirage?
