RedSmoke Barbeque in Detroit, MI

Walking around Downtown Detroit there are a ton of restaurants to try. The crowd inside RedSmoke Barbeque looked very inviting. Being kind of hungry, we decided to try it out. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was excited to try a new restaurant.

We were quickly seated at a high table near the bar. There were a good amount of people all around. I looked and noticed there was a second floor. It would have been nice to sit up there to people watch out of the window. Sadly there were no seats available on the 2nd floor. In case you didn’t think pigs flied, they do in RedSmoke, as I looked up and saw them hanging from the ceiling.

Looking at the menu I had no clue what to order. There were many different things to choose from and I was trying to fully gage how hungry I was and would end up being. After starring at the menu for awhile and going back and fourth I decided to order the pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries.

The service wasn’t too quick, but after some time the food finally came. My pulled pork sandwich was pretty good. The pork kept falling out and pork was all over the plate. I was given some cornbread, but it didn’t taste like cornbread I was used to. It was OK, but I didn’t finish the cornbread.

The sweet potato fries were absolutely amazing. I absolutely loved them! If anything I would go back and order a couple of orders of them. Amongst the best I have tasted at different restaurants. There were also different BBQ sauces. I put a little of each on my plate and dipped my fallen pieces of pork into them. I didn’t care for any of them, but others couldn’t get enough of the sauces.

The atmosphere is nice and the food was pretty good. If anything I would go back for the fries. RedSmoke Barbecue is located in the Greektown section of Downtown Detroit. If you are ever in the area stop by and don’t forget to order the sweet potato fries!
