Hotel Felix in Chicago, IL

There are so many hotels in Chicago it can become overwhelming. Choosing where to stay is very important. You could seriously be looking at different hotels for a long time before deciding on one. One hotel stood out to me above the many, Hotel Felix.

Location

Hotel Felix is located in the River North section of Chicago. There is a lot to do in the area! Much more than I could do in my time there. The hotel is close to many attractions, dining, and shopping including the infamous Magnificent Mile, Millennium and Grant Park, and Navy Pier. Walking around the beautiful neighborhood I saw many art galleries and restaurants.

The hotel is also conveniently located near the El (train.) On a beautiful day you can easily walk to many places or you can simply catch a taxi, which are inexpensive. It is a really convenient area to get around. It is also peaceful, but lively.

Hotel Felix

Pulling up to Hotel Felix there is some very cool statue art. One is of a blue woman with a golden crown walking her poodle. The other is of a red man and it says taxi. Upon arrival we were greeted and our bag was taken for us to the front desk. The lobby is very modern with a huge television on the wall and couches and chairs.

There is also a nice water feature, fireplace, and a bar area. It isn’t huge, but very cozy. There is also great music playing. Their playlist is excellent! I was singing and two stepping in the lobby and elevator. The hotel also has a French bistro, Troquet that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Hotel Felix also has an amazing staff! I don’t recall everyone’s names, but Darius and Troy were amazing! Although we couldn’t check in because it was early they held out luggage and pointed us in the direction of an amazing place to eat. They were very accommodating, always taking their time, offering suggestions, looking information up, giving directions, and more. They even obtained a room earlier than expected.

Hotel Felix is the first green eco-friendly hotel in Chicago and they are LEED certified. Everything from the art sculptures outside, cleaning supplies, and motion sensor heating and air conditioning is helping them to lead the way as a very green hotel. Here is a full list of just how green Hotel Felix is.

Rooms

.
There are 225 rooms. There is a choice of King, Queen, and Double beds. My room was a great size and had ample space. It was well decorated and very clean. As I walked into the room there was a full length mirror on the wall next to the closet. The closet isn’t that big and has no door. There is also a safe in the closest.

Walking in further I saw a 32 inch TV, a desk, and a chair. Next to that was another plush chair and table. Walking further into the room was a nice big bed. Drawers can be found at the foot of the bed. I thought this was great as it made the room feel bigger and open by not having a set of drawers against the wall.

There was an iHome on one of the bed side tables. A beautiful lighting fixture on each side. The view out the window was nice. It faced the front of the building. The bathroom was a great size. No tub, just a standing shower that had a rainfall head. I loved that there were a good amount of towels and wash cloths.

The normal bath gels, soaps, and lotions were found and they smelled wonderful. A nice touch that was included in the bathroom was cotton balls, q-tips, make up remover wipes, and more. The sink was a bit shallow and didn’t have much counter space, but it got the job done. The vanity above was well it if you needed to do makeup.

After a long day of running around Chicago the bed felt amazing. It was very comfortable and the pillows were nice and plush. The thermostat worked very well and instantly. Before I headed to sleep, I put the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door. I am glad I did, housekeeping began knocking on doors around 8am.

Hotel Amenities

The lobby has a touch screen on the wall that aids guests in finding great places to eat, things to do, and so much more. If you have brought your tablet or laptop you’re in luck, there is free wi-fi in the hotel! It works very well all over the hotel and is rapid. I

f you’re in need of a computer there is a business center. The business center has three computers and a printer. The chair doesn’t look comfy though, so it might be worth taking your own laptop and completing your work upstairs in the room.

A fitness center is also located inside the hotel. There are free weights, a scale, towels, treadmills with TVs, and more. It is not huge, but it will certainly help keep those who love to work out on point with their routines. Next door to the fitness center is a spa that offers massages, facials, and other services.

There is a French Bistro that I was told serves delicious food. A lounge and bar is also in the lobby area. Tables and chairs are there to relax at. In the mornings they serve complimentary coffee and tea. There is also parking, but it comes at a steep $60 a night. The hotel also provides small meeting spaces that can accommodate different needs.

Hotel Felix is an amazing hotel with a staff that will make you feel as if you were home. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I also enjoyed the benches located outside. They were a great place to sit and enjoy the beautiful weather and people watch. This is definitely a hotel that should be considered when visiting Chicago.

Hotel Felix is located at 111. W Huron
