Review: Z NYC Hotel in LIC, New York
Queens, New York is becoming more and more popular! Hotels have been popping up all over, especially in Long Island City, in the borough of Queens. Long Island City is so close to Manhattan, that it has become a great option to stay when visiting. One such hotel that is making it their business to stand out above all the rest is the Z NYC Hotel.
Location
Z NYC Hotel is located in Long Island City, Queens. The hotel is also one subway stop away from Manhattan. Literally a few minutes away. A drive across the Queensborough bridge will put you near Bloomingdales, Sprinkles, and my all time favorite restaurant Serendipity 3. The hotel is very close to SilverCup Studios as well as the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios.
There are many restaurants in the area as well, or you can hop on the 7 train, and experience a multitude of ethnic foods. The Z NYC Hotel doesn’t have a parking lot, but they do have a decent amount of free street parking around the hotel.

Walking into the lobby, I felt like I was transitioned into an old world European train station. It was gorgeous! There is an amazing train station platform painting behind the front desk. The front desk itself has encased vintage trunks. Above the elevators are train boards with train arrival times to many different countries. There is also a big beautiful black chandelier that you can’t miss
Taking the elevator or stairs down one flight, there is a beautiful restaurant that keeps with the train station theme as it has subway tiles on the wall. There are also smaller red chandeliers. This space is also great for weddings, baby showers, or any other event. They have 2 projectors as well for your needs.

A glass wall separates the restaurant from the lounge area. There are a few flat screen TV’s and a full bar, and menu. As I looked around, the European train station feel flowed into the lounge. I was able to order lunch courtesy of the hotel. The service was great. I ordered a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. It was a great size burger, and I have to say some of the best sweet potato fries I have ever had. I should have ordered some to go! If you live in Queens or just visiting, definitely take advantage of their dining and lounge area.

You would think that is it, but no it gets better! There is a 5,000 square foot rooftop lounge. There are two bar areas, and the views are something to write home about! The rooftop is a great place to have an outdoor wedding, which they have had a good amount of. The New York skyline as your wedding photo backdrop isn’t just a dream any more. Lounging on the rooftop with a drink in your hand during the summer is also a nice way to end your day after exploring.
Rooms
There are 100 rooms on 14 floors. Getting off the elevator, and walking to the room I felt like I was on the West Coast. The corridor has an outdoor apartment feel, but it is covered, so it is warm in cold weather. Each room has amazing views of the infamous Manhattan skyline from the floor to ceiling windows. The rooms seemed very European to me as the Superior Twin and Superior Queen rooms are 229 square feet. The Deluxe King room is 293 square feet, and also comes with a chic pullout futon. This particular room also has a rainforest shower head, and a deep European tub.

Each room is themed with a beautiful mural of Billie Holiday, The Rockettes, or an NYC Taxi. There are beautiful mason jar light fixtures over the extremely comfortable beds. The bathrooms have heated floors, which is an amazing amenity because who likes cold bathroom floors? The sink sits outside the bathroom and hosts a lot of amenities around it including Boca Terry Cloth bathrobes, and Z signature flip-flops. There is an iPod docking station, and Gilchrist and Soames amenities. Most importantly there is free wi-fi throughout the entire hotel! Last I saw rooms started at $135 a night.

Hotel Amenities
With the price of your room comes complimentary continental breakfast to help get your day started on the right foot. If their breakfast is anything like the lunch I had, then guests are in for a treat. The hotel has 10 complimentary bikes that they lend to guest from April to October. They also provide you with a helmet, map, and a lock. Guests are able to use them from sunrise to sunset. They are given out on a first come first serve basis.
There is complimentary transportation to and from Manhattan. The Z Bus is a 14 passenger bus that departs the hotel every hour on the hour from 7am to 11pm. The bus takes you right by Bloomingdales. They also will pick you up every hour on the half hour.
Traveling from overseas and can’t use your cell phone? No problem because Z Hotel has free local, domestic, and international calling. There is also a business center that is open 24/. Use of the computers and printers are complimentary. The Z NYC Hotel is even dog friendly as long as the fur baby is no more than 20 pounds. For all local up and coming artists, there is even an art gallery that rotates where your work can be displayed. There are also in-room massages available for $150.
Z NYC Hotel Packages
Just when even I thought there couldn’t be any more “amazingness” this hotel could offer, I was proven wrong. They have different packages they implement. You have to check on their site or with the front desk when you check in for updated information on these packages. One such package is the Picnic Package. The hotel provides you with a picnic basket, and a full lunch that you choose from a menu. You can take it with you on your bike ride and have a picnic in the park, on the roof top, or even in your room.
Another package they have that is very popular is the Naughty or Nice package. If you decide to be Naughty, not only do you get a Queen Superior room, but you also get a box of trinkets. Some trinkets you will receive in this box are handcuffs, edible underwear, and blindfolds. The package also comes with breakfast in bed, champagne, chocolate strawberries, and a book of erotic games. If you choose to be Nice you will get a Queen Superior room, in-room massage for 2, champagne, a dozen roses, and breakfast in bed.
I ended up talking to one of the members of staff in the hotel and they were telling me about the how the company was spending to much money on their bills. They then went onto say that they found a new deal through a price comparison website.
The Z NYC Hotel is an amazing hotel with a lot of fun amenities. On your next trip or staycation this is certainly a hotel to consider!

I love this hotel. It is always a great place to stay and just chill for a small weekend getaway. The rooftop bar is amazing. It has an amazing view of the city – completely beating out Penthouse 808, which you also look over as you see the city. haha
I have been to this hotel for many occasions and reasons – just looking forward to the next one.

OMG that hotel lobby/entrance is haute! I literally just booked a quick family getaway in Manhatten for the end of March using our timeshare. I used to work in hospitality so I always love seeing new hotels and the unique factor they can each bring. We have family in LIC so we will definitely have to look into this hotel. Thanks for sharing!

I wonder if this hotel is affiliated with the one in South Beach. This looks lovely. It’s nice to see the outerboros really taking off as places for tourist to visit and stay. Can’t wait to come back home in the summer.
