The Pirate's House in Savannah, Georgia

Savannah has plenty of great places to eat. While taking a tour of the city the tour guide pointed out a place called The Pirate’s House. We were told that it has been around since the 1700s. Seafarers would come to eat, drink, and be merry. It soon turned into a place pirates would visit. Once we realized it was around the corner from the hotel we were staying in we had to see for ourselves what it was all about.

The tour guide had also told us there is a tunnel below that the pirates would take women and such through the tunnels and out to sea. The Pirate’s House is said to be the oldest house erected in the entire state of Georgia. The place comes with great history, which I love, so why not head there to eat.

When we arrived we were told the wait to eat would be awhile and we were pretty hungry. We decided to go eat by the bar which had a booth connected to it. There were also other booths near the bar. After looking over the menu for awhile it became apparent that trying to decide what to order was a bit hard. We talked with the bartender and he confirmed what we all had our eyes on, The Pirate’s House Award Winning Pecan Fried Chicken.

There were also themed alcoholic drinks. I ordered The Cracken. Once we placed our orders we decided to get the Fried Green Tomatoes for an appetizer. The bartender informed us that the food would actually come before the appetizer and sure enough he was right. A few minutes later the food came out.

I could tell why the Pecan Fried Chicken was award winning. It was absolutely delicious! I had never had anything liked it. We all were very quiet enjoying our food which also came with a baked potato and veggies. Soon after the Fried Green Tomatoes came out which were also so good. I don’t even like tomatoes and I enjoyed these! My drink was perfect.

The portion size was big. So big we were full and couldn’t eat any more. We had to take the food to go. As we were walking towards the exit I noticed that there was an upstairs, we went up and saw a gift shop. It almost made me feel like I was back in the times of pirates or that I was in the Pirate’s of the Caribbean movie. I also noticed waiters dressed up as pirates.

It was a really fun restaurant with amazing food. I happily ate the rest of the chicken the next day and it still tasted delicious. I will make sure that The Pirate’s House in Savannah is a restaurant I return too!
