Appetite For Seduction in New York City
French may be the language of love, but when it comes to food, nothing will entice your sweetheart like Italian cuisine. How sexually potent a taste or smell is varies from person to person, but it’s called #foodporn for a reason. When I got the opportunity to take a cooking class with Appetite for Seduction, cooking Italian, I was excited.
I have never taken a cooking class and Appetite for Seduction seemed like a great start. I like to cook and especially bake. It has always been a stress reliever and relaxing for me. Looking at their website made it seem very enticing. They have 4 different classes in New York City: Boozy Brunch, Insatiable Italian, From France with Love, and Mucho Mexicano. I love Italian food and thought that would be a great choice.
Although their goal is to teach couples that the main ingredient to any meal is love, you don’t have to go with a significant other to enjoy the class. You can go with one friend, a group of friends, as a bachelorette party, or even by yourself. The class is so much more than just learning how to cook Italian dishes and I would soon learn that.
Located in the East Village, classes are easily accessible by public transportation. There is also street parking, which we scored, and a parking lot nearby. The classes take place in an apartment. Upon arrival we were greeted by Kristen who would be leading the class for the night. She was so sweet and made sure everyone was comfortable. Kristen made it her business to know your name right off the bat. We had a choice of red or white wine which she poured into a glass with our names on it. Each guest gets one bottle to drink during the 4 hours class.
I realized it was so much more than a class, but a dinner party. A table was set and some great music was playing. I am typically a shy person, but as more people began to arrive I was excited to meet them and introduce myself. One girl ended up coming alone and I can tell she had a great time. She really got into her appointed role as bartender too!
Kristen had us all put on pink aprons. The wine and conversation were flowing. There were a bunch of cutting boards and knives. We all learned some basic, but professional ways to cut and chop. I have to admit it took me minute to really grasp one of the cutting techniques, but after trying a few times, I got it! We all took turns and the men really got into the cutting and chopping.
The first thing we made was a Pizza Margarita Crostini. While we were making this we began to learn about different aphrodisiacs and histories behind certain food and why they were considered to be such. I love to learn and love history so this was right up my alley. Everyone pitched in to make everything. Afterwards we indulged, laughed, and talked as we ate.
Next up we started on the Penne Pasta with Baby Peas and Chicken which had Prosciutto Cream Sauce. We learned even more as we cooked. In the middle of it all we took turns blind folding our partners. Everyone had to use their other senses to tell what something was by touching, tasting, and smelling. That was a lot of fun!
We made a big salad together and sat down to eat right before some helped to plate the main course, the Penne. While we were eating Kristen showed us what was going to be used to make Fonduta di Cioccolato since earlier we chopped up dark chocolate. The chocolate had a spicy kick to it. We cut up some bananas, and had cookies, and other things to dip into the chocolate.
As we ate dessert we went around the table talking about food fantasies. It was a lot of fun listening to everyone’s thoughts. Some were relatable, some were x-rated, others were amusing. The 4 hours went by so quickly. It was so much fun to cook, learn more about yourself and your partner, and eat amazing food. Even more it was great to meet a bunch of people from all walks of life and have a good time with them.
There was supposed to be another 2 people, but they never showed up. We were all fine with that and the amount of people we had seemed like enough as the kitchen isn’t that big. I highly recommend Appetite for Seduction and it is something I would love to do again. They also send you the recipes for everything you made so you can recreate it at home. I am looking forward to receiving the recipes. Forget Cupid because when you’re armed with a couple of these recipes you will definitely be able to spice things up!
Have you ever been to Appetite For Seduction or a class similar? How was your experience?

The Boozy Brunch sounds like it would be more up my alley. While the food sounds great I’d rather not have sexual conversations with strangers. I do want to improve my cooking skills so I will have to look for something like this in my area.
Holly Dayz
I am interested in trying the Boozy Brunch as well. Looks like some great food! There really wasn’t any sexual conversations except the one question that went around the room that wasn’t geared towards solely being sexual. Otherwise it was just normal convo such as where are you from, what do you do, etc. It is a lot of fun.

Sounds amazing! Italy was my favorite country in the world when it came to cuisine, so I totally agree with you that they have this absolutely covered. I would love to learn how to cook and recreate the Italian cuisine for myself – Pizza Margarita Crostini sounds AMAZING! Great way to spend a date night – thanks for the idea!

Taking cooking class sounds really fun! I did took it once in high school and still not a good cooker haha >.< I need to improve on my cooking and one of there reasons I don't cook is because I get bored of it – especially when it's a lot of work. However, I know taking a cooking class would be a lot of fun. That's a great looking salad and pasta by the way!
I once tried making a pasta, something with pasta, I can't remember what exactly what it was. My roommate kept on laughing and laughing when it resulted looking a like a pile of dog food. OH man, haha, good memory.
Holly Dayz
It was a lot of fun. Cooking can be a lot of work to only sit down for a little while and eat. The food was so good.
Jo

Holly Dayz
This was my first one and I enjoyed it.

Cooking classes are the best, thanks for sharing! Pasta is one of those dishes that you think anybody could make it, but it takes a real skill to make delicious pasta.
Holly Dayz
It is a real skill. I learned a lot from the class all while having fun. That food was so yummy too.
