App of the Month: Velocity
With anniversaries, birthdays, special dinners, Valentines Day, and just because dinners sometimes you want to go somewhere swanky. Velocity is the new app to use created for users to book reservations at top restaurants and pay through the app with a card on file. With so many different restaurants it can be hard to choose where to eat and if you can even get a reservation. This app is supposed to help.
Velocity is a free app that features over 1,000 restaurants in London, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. About 90 of these restaurants are Michelin starred. Finding hidden gems or getting a table at your favorite restaurant is right at your finger tips with this app. With so many places to eat in these major cities this app is very useful.
In the Discover section the app gives different categories to help in finding the place for you. Some of these categories include neighborhoods, hidden gems, hand-picked for you, date night, and decor. Once you choose a category you can choose your time frame, how many people, and type such as breakfast, dinner, etc. Once a spot interests you, it gives you more information on the establishment, pictures, average main course price, and more. There is also an option to save it to your wish list.
The app also has a search feature that allows you to find a restaurant by location, name, or type of cuisine you may be in the mood for. Once you have chosen a spot and dined you can easily pay for your bill through the app rather than wondering when the waiter is going to come back around.
You can download the app here.
Have you ever used Velocity?
Check out other great apps!

This is brilliant! We’re always seeking new restaurants, so we’re going to have to try this one next time we’re going in one of those cities! Thanks for the recommendation!
Holly Dayz
I like to find new ones too.
Mindi
This looks like a useful app. I’ll have to remember it when I travel to the four cities where it operates. I am not currently in one of those cities.
Holly Dayz
Yea it seems like something to try out when visiting one of those cities. Hopefully they expand soon.

Interesting. I haven’t used this app because I haven’t been in the cities where it is available recently. I think I’d feel funny just paying through the app and getting up to leave, though. How the restaurant know you paid?
Holly Dayz
If they expand it would be even better. I am sure they know you are using the app from the reservation.
Rhonda Albom (@RhondaAlbom)
This is an interesting concept. I can’t wait to see some cities closer to me.
Holly Dayz
Agreed, it would be nice to see it in more cities.
Anne Klien ( MeAnne)
Great app on the tip if your finger no more phone reservation to do. And lots of options as well you dont need to check out every site . I need to check this out.
Holly Dayz
Agreed, you can do everything on that one app. They just need to expand to some other cities.

It’s an interesting idea, I wonder if they will include additional cities in the future. I like that you can target the lesser known hidden gems when you visit each city.
Holly Dayz
Hopefully they do, that would be great.

Amazes me bow many of these types of apps are out there now. Hard to keep up sometimes. I seem to download them all too. Great idea that you can do everything, Will be great when there are more cities to be able to look up.
Holly Dayz
I know more and more are popping up. I like to try apps to see what works. I think more cities would be great for the app.
Joan Torres
That’s a very useful app of you are in this sort of restaurants! Normally, all the restaurant apps show you a lot of crap! So it’s good to know that there’s an app that only shows the best of the best! Does it work in Spain?
Holly Dayz
Yes, this one certainly makes sure to show the best of the best. Not in Spain, but hopefully they expand their cities soon.

Sounds like a really practical and useful app – it’s so overwhelming trying to figure out where the best places are to eat when you’re in a new city, so I love that this helps filter, and has everything accessible in the one place 🙂
Holly Dayz
You are right. It has some great filters.
Pedro
Great idea, I think I’ll try it out when I’m back in London. I’m kind of addicted to trying new apps. 🙂
Holly Dayz
Oh go for it. I hope you find some great places to eat.
