Delicious Food on Martha’s Vineyard

Martha’s Vineyard is definitely a foodies’ paradise. There are plenty of places to dine at especially in Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, and Vineyard Haven. Although visiting in the offseason means fewer places are open, we still found no shortage of food. So if you are going off-season are during peak here are some places to check out for delicious food on Martha’s Vineyard!

Sharky’s Cantina- There are 2 locations on the island, one in Oak Bluffs and the other in Edgartown. We headed to the one in Edgartown. Both are open later than other places, 1:30am and 12:30am. If you are looking for Mexican cuisine this is the spot for you. Dining in or taking it out is no problem.

I don’t recall everything we ordered, but the Super Quesadilla Plato came with a great amount of food. It included rice and my choice of beans. If you dine in they also have a bar. The food was good and so were the prices for the amount of food. Unfortunately no photos were taken as we were so hungry!

Linda Jean’s – We stumbled upon this restaurant trying to find something open in Oak Bluffs and we weren’t disappointed.  We ate here twice. We ordered a cheeseburger, chicken club, french fries, onion rings, and sweet potato fries as we missed breakfast. The second time, we were able to get some delicious breakfast. Western omelette with home fries and toast as well as homemade cinnamon swirl  french toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon. Some mint tea and a mimosa accompanied.

Martha’s Clam Chowder Co – Also located in Oak Bluffs, the food here was so good. They had some clam chowder awards and I mean look at the name of the place so I had to try it. I was definitely not disappointed it was delicious. We also ordered crab cakes which were  a great a size and really good.

Other items we ordered were lobster and smoked gouda mac and cheese with blackened shrimp. Delicious is an understatement on this dish. We also ordered the horseradish crusted salmon over smashed potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts and sauce. The potatoes and salmon were great, the brussel sprouts not so much, wouldn’t recommend them. Lastly we had a chocolate lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream!

Lookout Tavern – Another Oak Bluffs restaurant and bar this place did not disappoint. There is a really nice view of the water. We arrived during happy hour and took advantage of some popcorn shrimp while we waited for our main courses. The popcorn shrimp was plentiful, looked and tasted fresh and delicious. Main courses were the BB King, which was applewood bacon and blue cheese burger and sautéed sweet lobster sautéed in butter and served warm.

The food portions were great. Very filling. The food was delicious and the view was great. There is also a bar and a ton of televisions to watch sports. The place isn’t that big so I could imagine during peak season it being filled to the brim.

We ate at a few more places in Vineyard Haven where we got some pizza and ice cream. We also tried to go to Backdoor Donuts, in Oak Bluffs. Unfortunately even though someone answered the phone earlier in the day it ended up not being open when we went. Maybe next time we will get to try it. We also tried to eat at The Net Result, but they weren’t selling anything but sushi when we went.

There are a number of other places we wanted to try, but they weren’t open.  This is definitely a place to fulfill all your seafood desires. If you don’t like seafood or are allergic there are plenty of other delicious options as well! We will definitely have to go back and eat some more delicious food Martha’s Vineyard have to offer!

Have you been to Martha’s Vineyard? What are your favorite places to eat?

It’s great that you still got such a good selection of food even in the off season in Martha’s Vineyard. The lobster and smoked gouda mac and cheese with blackened shrimp from Martha’s Clam Chowder Co for sure is an interesting combination. And I would love to sink my teeth into a lava cake.

Great collection of food options! And they all look fantastic, except that I really don’t think I would join macaroni and cheese with lobster! But…whatever floats your boat. I haven’t been to Martha’s Vineyard but I’d love to — to see everything and to try out some of these delectables!

So seafood definitely seems like a theme here! Lobster rolls are my absolute fav and that looks like an awesome one. I’d have to go for the clam chowder, too — I was born and raised in New England and since I moved south, I haven’t been able to get a decent clam chowder anywhere.
