Lolly the Trolley Tour in Cleveland, Ohio

While visiting a city it is always important that I take some type of tour. I like to see what a city has to offer and some of the history. Knowing what I am looking at and getting some fun facts is also important to me as well. So when I heard about Lolly the Trolley I immediately wanted to go on the tour.

Lolly the Trolley has different tours, but we took the city sightseeing tour. They have an hour and 2 1/2 hour one which is what we opted for. What was great was that the tour meet up location was very close to the Aloft Hotel we were staying at. The 2 1/2 tour is composed of many areas including The Flats, Downtown, Playhouse Square, Millionaire’s Row, Ohio City, the historic Cleveland Cultural Gardens, and much more.

One of the great things about this tour is that it starts in the afternoon. No reason to wake up at the crack of dawn. You have ample time to sleep in, get something to eat, and do a plethora of other things. I also loved that there were locals on the tour. They said they loved it and every time someone comes into town to visit they bring them on the tour.

Of course we rode around in a red trolley named Lolly. Our driver was Eva, she was pretty awesome. She really knows how to drive and whip that trolley safely around the ever-changing streets of Cleveland. Eva is also very knowledgeable and a lot of fun.  The trolley was pretty comfortable, my only recommendation would be to sit on the right side. This is especially important if you plan to take pictures as many of the things Eva pointed out were on the right, I however was on the left.

This tour is all ride with an exception to one stop for a bathroom break or to just get out and stretch your legs. It is a great way to get the of “The Land” if you want to go back and do some more exploring at certain places, which I definitely recommend. Many things stuck out on this tour. I won’t give them all away because of course you have to take the tour!

Some of my favorites that stuck out were the world’s largest outdoor chandelier. Next time I am there I want to see this again. One of the houses on Millionaire’s Row that is still in existence was turned into a Children’s Museum. I would love to take a peek inside of there. Some of the houses on Millionaire’s Row were taken down because when the millionaires died  they didn’t want someone else with less stature living in their house was comical.

The mural of Prince and some other murals also stood out as well. If you are a Lebron fan then seeing the huge Lebron photo on the outside of the stadium is a must. I also saw a statue of Jesse Owens. There was also the skinniest building nestled in between some larger ones. I can only imagine what the inside of it looks like.

Overall this is a great tour with plenty to see and learn. Cleveland has plenty of history and a lot to offer. I would highly recommend taking Lolly the Trolley to at the very least get a feel for the city and where everything is. I know I will definitely go back to see many of the things that Eva pointed out.

Have you ever taken Lolly the Trolley?

The tour in Lolly looks like so much fun. What a great way to see the sights of Cleveland and learn about it’s history.

    • Holly Dayz

It was a lot of fun and very informative. Learned tons of things I had no idea about.

Making city trips in trolleys and trams is always a delight. I love going back in time and riding in an old-world transport vehicle is a great way to do that. The murals are so lovely, and the tip about sitting on the right side is useful.

    • Holly Dayz

It is a lot of fun. They had a couple of cool ones that I saw. Yes, the right side is the better one.

You managed to keep the suspense element in the post and sharing the parts that would get us more curious. I am keen to see the world largest chandelier. Seeing the Jesse Owen’s statue for the first time. Thank you for that!

    • Holly Dayz

Yes, you must go check it out. The statue was great. I was surprised when I saw it.

Given that you can get only one “Bathroom break”, I guess it is a tour on wheels only. I would be a tad bit disappointed if that was the case coz I like to hop on and hop off to see certain things closely. However, I guess it might make sense if you want to just get an overall view of the place.

    • Holly Dayz

Yea, it is. I like to get out and check things out too, but some stuff I had already seen and other things I knew I could go back to now that I know about it. Gave a great overview.

The Lolly Trolley, tour looks pretty interesting. The trolley ot course in itself looks like an experience to be enjoyed. Also it is a good orientation of the city. These kind of tours are something that we always do whenever we travel to new cities. It helps us to get a feeling of the place .

    • Holly Dayz

Yea, I really like getting a feel for a place. I also like learning about things so this was a great way to get an intro.

The Lolly Trolley tour looks like a city overview tour. I disliked the fact that you cant get down to explore the thing which attracted you and then hop on again while returning or something like that.

    • Holly Dayz

Yea, but you do get a great introduction to the city and it is easy to get to the different places they showed. I like to get off and see stuff myself, but this was cool.

Lolly trolley sounds like a cartoon character! I would like to take this tour, too, I haven’t! What one of good thing yea about this is starts in the middle of the day, cool! When we’re traveling, we’re sometime lazy to get up early, just because we want more time to sleep. ( Just like us at most times, lol! )Cleveland does seem to have interesting things to offer to tourists and travelers, that chandelier makes me curious!

    • Holly Dayz

I hate waking up super early sometimes. Especially when I am already tired from traveling and what not, so I was happy this was in the middle of the day. I totally agree with you. Cleveland has so much to offer that I wasn’t fully aware of till I took this tour.

Lolly the Trolley… and you’re Holly! All jokes aside, Lolly and Eva definitely give this Cleveland tour some personality. It sounds like just the right thing to get an overview of the city before deciding what you want to experience in more detail, like the Children’s Museum.

    • Holly Dayz

You are absolutely right. Great overview. I had already seen things prior, but it gave me more ideas of things to see and do there.

A trolley named Lolly? Haha, so cute! It does look like this tour is quite interesting, I’d love to hop on to a trolley, it has the right pace to allow you to take enough pictures and take the sights in but also stay on the move. It’s like walking, but faster and lesser tiring 🙂 Very cool!

    • Holly Dayz

It is cute. I enjoyed the tour. Yea sometimes walking for hours is very tiring.

  • Meg Jerrard

I love taking trolley tours! Makes the tour feel really history – fab to know about Lolley in Ohio 🙂 And I do like that this tour is in the afternoon – I’m never awake first thing in the morning lol even when I am awake – hard to retain info from a tour when I’ve just woken up 😀 Love that there’s street art included in the tour. Thanks for the tip!

    • Holly Dayz

It is hard to just get up in the morning. Especially if you are jet lagged or just tired from traveling and what not. Plenty to see with Lolly.
