Peacock Themed Maryland Wedding

There are so many ways to make a wedding your own. Brandon and Sherita did just that! They planned their beautiful wedding in Prince George’s Country, Maryland with a peacock theme. For the two of them this was a destination wedding with a personal connection!

Where was your ceremony and reception held?

In Riverdale, Maryland.

What made you pick the city?

We decided to have it at Sherita’s parent’s residence.

What made the ceremony and reception space special?

The gazebo was our main back drop and ceremony location. It was very special because of the outdoor scenery and her having childhood memories of growing up and playing in their backyard. The size of land in the area was beneficial. During the ceremony we had our own personal vows and a lighting of a unity candle.

What kind of cake did you have?

Vanilla with buttercream icing. Peacock themed.

Did you have a color scheme or theme?

Turquoise, Royal Blue, purple, green.

What type of decor did you have?

We had mason jars with LED lights like fireflies. The center pieces had peacock feathers.

Did you do any DIY?

ALL DIY! We designed table center pieces. We had candle holders with jewels and water. We had chosen the most beautiful linen tablecloths we could find. There were framed photos on each table of each of us or together. (Childhood and present) The peacock colors mixed with sand in mason jars for Sherita to walk down to. Flower decoration. LED lighting and curtain backdrop for main table. All linens, glassware, and silverware.

Bride’s most memorable moment?

My memorable was standing under the gazebo waiting to announce vows as it started to rain.

Groom’s most memorable moment?

Brandon’s was giving his speech before first dances.

Is there something you wish you had done differently?

Wish we could’ve enjoyed it more instead of stressing over little things, but overall it was a success and were very impressed.

What was your budget and guest count?

$12,000 was the set budget for 150 guests.

Do you have any tips for those trying to plan a wedding in Maryland?

Some tips I would give would be to be sure to plan ahead well in advance and to always have a plan B. Due to limited space in Prince George’s County it can be hard to find a location to  accommodate 150+ people.

Did you have a honeymoon? If so where?

We went to Castries, St. Lucia for our honeymoon in December.
