Throwback Thursday: Indianapolis, Indiana

I have traveled to many places, but some haven’t been as recent as others. In honor of the infamous Throwback Thursday, I am throwing myself back to Indianapolis, Indiana. I have had the pleasure of visiting Indianapolis a couple of times. Once in the dead of winter and the other during spring/summer time. Despite my dislike for snow it was still a very beautiful city.
Both times I stayed in an area called Carmel. There were very nice houses and plenty of shopping around the area. It is clean and beautiful. They have some great parks as well. I tried to play tennis and some basketball. Unfortunately to this day tennis is just not my sport. Besides going to visit friends I had the opportunity to go to an Indianapolis Colts game. I love football and at that time, that was my number one team.

Having the opportunity to go to the game at the Lucas Oil Stadium was a dream come true for me. The downtown area is really nice. I was certainly in the right place with everyone in their Colts gear. I felt at home. The crowd was amazing. It was the best football game I have ever been to. It was great to hear the roar of the crowd. Of course the Colts came home with a win!

I also had the opportunity to go to the Canal Walk. It was really pretty. People were walking around and riding bikes. There are gondolas, pedal boats, and more that can be rented. I walked around and took in the atmosphere.

While there I tried to go to a restaurant called Bub’s Burger and Ice Cream. On the wall I saw they had one of those food eating competitions where you try to eat a burger called The Big Ugly (seen on “Man v. Food”) . Unfortunately it was so crowded in there I didn’t get the opportunity to actually eat there. Next time I will definitely try.

Overall Indianapolis is a great city with some great people. I would love to visit there again.

I’ve been to Indianapolis a few times, but mostly just quick visits. The Colts game looked like a lot of fun, but I’m a Packer fan so that’s about as objective as I can be! (wink, wink) Thanks for sharing.

This post about Indianapolis is a great reminder that destinations we may not at first consider have wonderful opportunities for enjoyment. And there’s nothing better than an NFL game!

I’ve never been much of a Colts fan, but that burger would do it for me 😉

I don’t think I could finish the burger.

Holy cow! literally! What a burger. I’ve eaten in another place that had a man vs. food challenge and it was packed to the brim as well.

I am not surprised. He chooses great places to eat.

I love seeing a place in two very different seasons. You get to see almost two different cities with everything familiar.

I do too. Gives a different perspectives and allows for different activities.

I haven’t been to Indianapolis so it’s fun to see the things you did. Looks like there’s plenty to do and some good food too.

I’ve only been to the airport there lol. I wouldn’t have thought to go back, but your photos make it seem really nice, especially the canal walk.

I really should make a point to go to NFL football game at least once. They look like an interesting experience.
