Malaga, Spain has some beautiful street art. Knowing this I made it mission to take time out during the day to find it. After talking a walking tour I asked the guide where I could find the area. She handed me a map and showed me. Turns out it wasn’t all too far from the Airbnb I was staying at. Even though I knew the area, it took a moment to find the actual streets, but once I did there was art everywhere.
Some art I found on the walking tour near the infamous El Pimpi. It was so beautiful and vibrant. The colors popped and the artwork felt like it was in dimensions. You can’t miss it and you can’t help, but to stop and see all of it. A flamenco lady with a fan, a horse, and more were very beautiful. I was mesmerized by every mural I saw, they were truly fantastic.

After the tour and a little relaxation my friend and I took a walk over to an area called SoHo. All you need to do is walk around a bit and you will start to see street art all over and around. Some of the buildings house businesses while others are abandoned. There weren’t many people walking around as we strolled along the streets early/mid-afternoon.

You have to be careful when walking around the abandoned buildings. There are so many pigeons around and bird droppings on the ground. Luckily we didn’t get pooped on. I was afraid a bird was just going to drop one on me, but it never happened thankfully.

I even noticed a tagger who spray painted my name a couple of times. I thought that was pretty cool. Sometimes even finding my name on souvenirs isn’t too easy, so to actually see a tag was awesome. Also it is important to look up. We almost missed a couple of pieces because we didn’t look all the way up. We also ran into an amazing mural that just looked so cool.

There is so much to see. I am not sure how often they may change or not. I did notice some were painted over. I assume it is possible some may not be there at one point or another. There is a lot of construction going on in Malaga. I would assume if they did something with those abandoned buildings there is a possibility of them painting over some of the art. However it is a noted area to find street art even with placards around the area, so I would think art will always be around there.

July 29, 2017 at 7:05 AMInteresting. I wouldn’t expect so much street art everywhere in a place like Malaga. Admittedly, I don’t know anything about Malaga, but I envision it as a historic Spanish town and I wouldn’t think the city would want historic buildings being painted with street art murals. Perhaps I’m totally wrong in my impressions.
Holly Dayz
August 6, 2017 at 6:54 PMWell it isn’t everywhere. The street art is in certain locations. They actually allowed a certain area to display it.
