Atlanta, Georgia has a lot more to do than what many typically hear about. There is plenty to do there with your kids, but of course you can do this without them as well. I have partnered with Hotels.com to bring you some fun family friendly ideas on your next trip to Atlanta!
In Atlanta, there are many great hotels to stay when visiting. It is recommended to stay in the Midtown/Downtown area for some of the activities listed. I also highly recommend a car, if you want to go exploring and check out some other areas. Besides that, you can stay at some hotels
close to these fun kid friendly activities .
World of Coca-Cola
The World of Coca-Cola is a 20 acre museum and is located blocks away from where the original Coca-Cola formula was created. There is plenty to do and see inside and you could easily take up hours exploring. My favorite part was the taste testing of their sodas from around the world. My favorite sodas were from Africa. They have added a new exhibit, Experience Scent Discovery. You can also find a 3-D theater, the Coca-Cola polar bear, Vault of the Secret Formula, and much more.
Right across from the World of Coca-Cola is the Georgia Aquarium. This aquarium is houses hundreds of species and thousands of animals. It is the 3rd largest aquarium in the world and not to be missed. They house whale sharks, bottlenose dolphins, whale sharks, and more. They have a 4D theater, animal encounters, virtual reality simulators, and a lot more. This is another place that you can take your time and enjoy your day at!
National Center for Civil and Human Rights
Achievements of both the civil rights movement in America and world wide are housed here at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. It is right across from both the Wold of Coca-Cola and Georgia Aquarium. According to their site, a typical visit could last between 90 minutes and 2 hours. There are different exhibitions and installations to view and learn about. It is also interactive with lunch room sit ins, learn about the Freedom writers, and so much more in 42,000 square feet!
Atlanta Botanical Gardens
Located on 40 acres in Midtown, Atlanta is the beautiful botanical gardens. Besides walking around the gorgeous grounds that change themes, there are educational classes. You can take Tai-Chi, take an intro to drawing class, learn to make strawberry jam, and a lot more. They also have a bunch of family programs that include, storybook time, garden playtime, and many other events. This is a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy.
Children’s Museum of Atlanta
Located Downtown, not far from the above mentioned activities in a little over 16,000 square feet of space. There is much to do while visiting as they have an art studio, a let your creativity flow space, a build it lab, and a lot more. Even if you have kids that are 2 & under there is an area specifically designed for them. This museum also has many different programs including Creativity Cafe with art projects and a Science Bar to work on an experiment. All great learning fun for the kids!
So if you are planning a visit to Atlanta and wondering what to do with the kids, these activities will definitely keep them entertained. You won’t even have to go very far as they are all in the vicinity of one another. Most you may even enjoy sans the kids.
