Staying At The Unitas Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is such a beautiful city with many options on where to stay. After doing some research and deciding what area I thought was best to be in, I choose the Unitas Hotel. After arriving there I realized I made the perfect choice!
Location
Unitas Hotel is located in Old Town. It is pretty close to the vast majority of tourist attractions, including the Charles Bridge. Restaurants and shopping are very close by, including the very delicious U Medviku. Public transportation is very close by, but the hotel is in a very walkable area! The one way street it is located on is very peaceful, but close to the action.

Once we arrived to the hotel we noticed how quit the area was. We walked through the entrance and saw a ton of TripAdvisor plaques on the wall. We walked up a couple of steps and stepped into the quaint lobby area. The lobby was very quaint and stylish. The decor was modern and bright. There was a very small bar area were you could also get coffee, tea, and water.

We had to wait about 45 minutes to get our room since they were still cleaning them when we arrived. We sat in the lobby and waited while looking at the tourism maps and books they had of Prague. Our room was finally ready and rather than a key card they handed us a key on a big wooden thing. Every time you leave the hotel you are supposed to give them the key back.

The staff is very nice and most speak English. You can even purchase public transportation passes from the front desk. They also offer great advice on where to eat and how to get around! The hotel also comes with some interesting history. It started out as a convent in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In the 1950s it became the Secret Police Headquarters and jail cells were added to the basement.
Rooms

Walking into the room was a huge surprise. Typically European hotel rooms are on the smaller side. This room was huge! I figured I could easily do a couple of cartwheels. There was a closest and a cabinet with a mini fridge to the left of the door. Robes, slippers, and extra blankets were inside. Complimentary bottles of water were awaiting us as well.

Straight ahead was a large bathroom. They had the soaps set up very nicely set up. Plenty of towels and wash clothes. The tub was huge. It almost looked intimidating to step up into. The windows emitted plenty of nice natural light not only in the bathroom, but all over the room. We had a view of the courtyard.

The room had a desk and a couple of chairs to sit and relax in. The beds were for one person, but very comfy. There was even a DVD player in the room. I had brought some DVDs with me knowing this ahead of time, but couldn’t get it to work. I loved the room and really enjoyed it.

Hotel Amenities
Speaking of DVDs, in the lobby there is an area you can use computers, borrow some books, and borrow some DVDs. I thought that was pretty cool. As I stated before the lobby has a bar and coffee and tea area. Also around 4pm everyday they put out little snacks and beverages. I think I went back a couple of times to grab snacks. One of the days it was little chocolate pastries.

Walking around the hotel there is a promenade. It is a huge room and a great place to sit and relax. There is also a piano in there in case you want to bust out some tunes. The next room is a small playroom for the kids to have a little fun.

There is also access to the courtyard from two points in the hotel. It is really nice and you can sit outside under the canopy and relax and take it all in. It was very quiet and even though you are able to park back there, I never heard or saw a car go in and out even from my room.

There is a breakfast room where they serve complimentary breakfast. They had plenty to choose from, cereals, hot items that changed daily, yogurt, cheeses and meats, and more. I would order tea and it would come in a cute tea-cup and pot. The food was pretty good and the staff very nice.

Each floor also has its own coffee and tea station. You can either sit there at the table or go back to your room. Everything you need to make some coffee or tea is right there. I loved that! And of course the hotel has free wi-fi! The hotel also has a private car service to take you to and from the airport. We use it to get back to the airport and it was inexpensive. A private BMW and no stopping was really nice.

The hotel was great and I loved the staff and especially the huge room. It is so close to everything I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. The Unitas is a great hotel and I highly recommend it!
Have you ever stayed at the Unitas Hotel?

This hotel does look nice. I love great customer service even more though so this place is a dual win. I will definitely add it to my list of options when I visit.
Holly Dayz
It was such a nice hotel I really enjoyed it and would happily stay there again.

Great review here. The hotel looks really nice overall, just a different style than I’m used to. That breakfast looks insanely good though!
Holly Dayz
Thank you. The breakfast was good. I tried a bunch of different things lol.
marshasassycritic
That looks like a nice, quaint hotel! It’s nice that they make it family friendly.
Holly Dayz
I thought that was nice too. The kids looked like they were having fun when I saw them.

Great location! Sometimes it is worth to have a premium location and not necessarily have the nicest hotel! Always re-assuring to see many Tripadvisor plates to confirm you are not in a shady hotel 😉
Holly Dayz
Luckily I had both. Great location and a very nice hotel. I knew it wasn’t shady before I got there, did my normal research.

Excellent review! It’s always hard for us to choose places to stay so we appreciate reviews like this so we can reference them for future travels!
Holly Dayz
Thank you! It is hard to choose places to stay. Especially when you are debating between a few.

Everything about this screams CLEAN. You have a beautiful, clean blog with clear and concise writing. The Unitas looks well manicured too – crisp linens and prompt service. It sounds like a lovely property that is well managed. Based on your experiences, the Unitas is now on our radar.
Holly Dayz
Thank you. I appreciate the kind words. It was a very nice hotel I liked it and would happily stay there again.

It looks quite basic, but it does look clean and like a good, affordable choice since it is close to most attractions. I do really love that piano, though. It’s gorgeous!
Holly Dayz
It had everything needed with a little extra. There are much more “basic” hotels out there. Nice hotel that I would stay in again.
Natalia
After I’ve seen the library, I thought: “this is a nice idea for a hotel”, but then I’ve seen the piano and that’s when you totally sold this place to me))
Holly Dayz
It was a good idea, I thought so. More hotels should have them.

That tub looks amazing! So deep. I would love to take a bath in it. Looks like a great place to stay in Prague.
Holly Dayz
It was huge, I was surprised. It was very nice.

The ever important included breakfast. It’s important for getting out the door quickly no need to worry about what to eat.
Holly Dayz
Exactly! Great way to start the day!

Looks like a great option in Prague, where there are so many mediocre hotels, especially near Old Town. The breakfast spread looks impressive. A great breakfast in European hotels makes such a difference in the experience!
Holly Dayz
It was a good breakfast. Great way to start the day.

I have stayed at another hotel in Prague. Unitas hotel looks very clean and elegant. I would not hesitate at all to check it out for my next visit to Czech Republic.
Holly Dayz
I would stay at Unitas again. It is a good stay.

Sounds like a perfect place to stay in Prague! I love when hotels go above the ordinary with touches like the coffee and tea stations on each floor and the books and DVDs available in the lobby. Almost sounds like it has a hostel vibe while still being upscale. Great find!
Holly Dayz
I loved the stations on each floor. Loved grabbing tea whenever I wanted.
Jo
Wow this looks so nice. It’s cool that the hotel used to be other things before. I probably would’ve been looking for things that traced back to its original use. lol After visiting Greece, I’ve noticed the rooms compared to mainstream hotels are on a smaller scale. Good review. I can’t wait to go back to Europe.
Holly Dayz
It was a really nice hotel. I would stay there again. I was looking at certain things and imagining what it was all like especially when I was in my room.
Adventuring The Great Wide Somewhere
What a gem! You’re not kidding about the room size, that is HUGE by European standards! The breakfast looks fantastic, and I love that the common areas are airy and plentiful. Add in the prime location, and you have a winner!
Holly Dayz
Yea the room was really big. I was so surprised. The breakfast was good and a great start to the day.
Mimi Green
This looks like a winner for sure. I love that you measure the space by how many cartwheels wheels you could do it in. hahahaha The bathroom looks amazing.
Holly Dayz
Lol I felt a bunch of cartwheels could have taken place in that room. It was a really nice room.

I have never been to Prague but this looks like an awesome place to stay, will keep it on my list when I head over to Europe at the end of this year!
Holly Dayz
It is a beautiful city that you would probably enjoy.
a matter of taste (@mattertaste)
After visiting many hotels in Japan lately, my perspective has changed a lot. I looked at the photos of this hotel and my first thought was “wow, the room and the bathroom are huge!”. That’s why I laughed when I read you were thinking about doing cartwheels there 🙂
Holly Dayz
I was surprised at how big the room really was when I opened the door.
Mar Pages
I love the how the floors look in the Promenade, and its so beautifully bright! Big rooms are always a pleasant surprise, will definitely look into this when I get to Prague 🙂
Holly Dayz
Yea when I walked into that room I was pleasantly surprised.

Love a hotel that serves free breakfast. Police headquarters, were you able to see the basement. I love a huge tub. that is always a nice touch. Glad you enjoyed the hotel.
Holly Dayz
I agree, great way to get the day started and you don’t have to go far or spend extra money. I didn’t see the basement, but the police station was across the street.
KenyaRae
That bathroom would have been all I needed for the trip. Lol. It looks like an awesome experience glad you enjoyed!
Holly Dayz
That bathroom was pretty big! I did!

Two things really stood out to me. The playroom for the kids and piano room. The hotel definitely looks like a relaxing oasis.
Holly Dayz
It was very nice. Yea, I didn’t know they had a kids room till I walked past it. The kids looked like they were having fun.

When I went to Europe for the summer, my job cut off two weeks of my travel time and I had to say bye to Prague. I had heard mixed reviews about the city but I am definitely willing to give it a chance. The hotel looks amazing and I love the clean look about it. That library is a dream.
Holly Dayz
Aw dang that stinks since Prague is so beautiful. It is a great city and the hotel was really nice.
MUAKimPorter
The breakfast looked good. I like that they have a playroom.
Holly Dayz
It was. I thought the playroom was cool.
StreetTrotter
Looks like a nice place. I liked the library corner a lot.
